August 8, 2025 — Beijing — At the World Robot Conference 2025, Orbbec (SHA: 688322) unveiled two groundbreaking products that push the boundaries of robotic perception: the Pulsar ME450, the industry’s first dToF 3D LiDAR with multi-pattern scanning, and the Gemini 345Lg, a stereo 3D camera built specifically for outdoor robots.
Pulsar ME450: One Sensor, Many Modes
The Pulsar ME450 represents a technological breakthrough as the industry’s first direct Time-of-Flight (dToF) 3D LiDAR combining a MEMS mirror and motor technology. Under the “Flex to Flow” theme, this sensor allows robotics applications to seamlessly switch between three scanning modes:
- Non-repetitive scanning — for dynamic obstacle avoidance requiring real-time response
- Repetitive scanning (non-dense) — balanced coverage for general navigation
- Dense repetitive scanning — high-density point clouds for detailed 3D reconstruction
This adaptability addresses a fundamental challenge in robotics: different tasks require different sensing strategies. A robot mapping an environment needs dense point clouds, while one navigating at speed needs fast, real-time data feedback. The ME450 eliminates the need for multiple dedicated sensors.
“Robots often need to choose different types of sensors for different scenarios,” said Guo Wei, head of Orbbec’s LiDAR R&D team. “By overcoming single-mode limitations, we’re delivering unprecedented flexibility and reliability for robotic environmental perception.”
The ME450 excels across smart forklifts, logistics robots, lawn mowers, and surveying equipment. It delivers millimeter-level precision with high-fidelity 3D reconstruction, while its advanced reflectivity detection maintains stable performance across diverse materials and challenging interference conditions — even under 80kLux strong ambient light.
Gemini 345Lg: Built for the Outdoors
The Gemini 345Lg is purpose-built for outdoor robots operating in harsh environments. Its key advantages include:
- Extreme temperature resistance: Operates from -20°C to 65°C — the widest operating temperature range of any stereo 3D camera on the market
- IP67 protection with anti-vibration capabilities for continuous reliable performance
- Ultra-wide field of view: Depth dual-mode FoV up to 104°×87° / 91°×78°, RGB FoV at 137°×71°
“Gemini 345Lg is currently the most suitable stereo 3D camera for outdoor robots and harsh environments,” said Jia Xinxin, Senior Product Manager at Orbbec. It provides reliable 3D vision support for commercial lawn mowers, inspection robots, and agricultural machinery.
Market Momentum
Orbbec’s innovations are backed by impressive market performance. The company expects January-May 2025 revenue of approximately ¥363 million, a year-over-year increase of 117%. According to GGII research, Orbbec holds over 70% market share in China’s service robot 3D vision sensor market.
The company has partnered with over 100 robotics manufacturers including UBTech, Tiantong, Zhiyuan, Dreame, Yunji Technology, Qinglang Intelligent, Pudu Technology, Gaoxian Robotics, LionsBot, and Standard Robots. As an official ecosystem partner of NVIDIA, Microsoft, and AMD, Orbbec continues advancing from robotic “eyes” toward integrated “hand-eye-brain” systems.
