Las Vegas, January 6, 2026 – At CES 2026, Orbbec unveiled two breakthrough stereo 3D cameras built for the next generation of robotic perception: the Gemini 305, an ultra-compact stereo vision module engineered for robotic wrist mounting, and the Gemini 345Lg, a ruggedized stereo camera designed for demanding outdoor and industrial environments. Alongside the hardware, Orbbec announced full platform compatibility between its flagship Gemini series and NVIDIA Jetson Thor, and revealed a dual-manufacturing strategy spanning Shunde, China and a new facility in Vietnam.

## Gemini 305: Precision Vision for the Robotic Wrist

The Gemini 305 redefines what a wrist-mounted 3D camera can do. Measuring just 42 x 42 x 23 mm and weighing 65 g, it pushes the minimum imaging distance down to 4 cm – a 43% reduction in the perception blind zone versus mainstream competitors that bottom out near 7 cm. Across its full 4-100 cm range it holds sub-millimeter depth accuracy at the critical 15 cm “fingertip-class” working distance.

Its 88 x 65 degree depth field of view, paired with a 94 x 68 degree single-channel color field of view, lets the camera capture objects as small as 8.6 x 5.4 cm at 20 cm – wider coverage that translates directly into more agile robot performance at the wrist. The real differentiator is independent configuration of color and depth resolution: where traditional architectures force both streams to share one resolution because of ISP limits, the Gemini 305 decouples them while keeping frames spatially and temporally aligned. Preset modes switch with one click between “Depth + Color” and dual “RGB + RGB” output, so every frame delivers exactly what the algorithm needs.

The camera streams real-time color and depth at up to 1280 x 800 resolution and 60 fps, with direct depth output and latency as low as 60 ms – dramatically lightening the host processor load. Multi-camera sync uses both high-precision hardware sync and flexible software timestamps, and a trigger-enabled capture mode supports scenario-based coordination for multi-robot operations. For high-frequency dynamic routing on robotic arms, the Gemini 305g variant adds a GMSL2 serializer with FAKRA connector and low-loss cabling, shrugging off vibration and electromagnetic interference far better than USB.

## Gemini 345Lg: Rugged Vision for the Field

Built for harsh conditions, the Gemini 345Lg carries an IP67 rating and operates from -20 to 65 degrees Celsius, maintaining stable performance through extreme heat, cold, and vibration. Its wide 104 x 87 degree depth field of view and GMSL2 interface make it a fit for inspection robots, outdoor logistics, and other industrial tasks that demand dependable perception.

The headline software story is full Gemini-series compatibility with NVIDIA Jetson Thor.
